Berea College's Older Buildings and What They Mean for Attic Moisture
Berea took its name in 1854, when Rev. John Fee platted the town near the biblical town of Berea in Acts 17:10, and the city was incorporated in 1890. Berea College, chartered a year earlier in 1855, grew alongside it as the first interracial and coeducational college in the South; the college has covered every admitted student's tuition since 1892, and the campus buildings and surrounding residential blocks that grew up around it over the following century make up much of Berea's older housing stock today.
